JOURNALIST VISA AND PERMIT
Procedural requirements to obtain a journalist visa and
permit:
Application may be sent through the media representative in Indonesia to the
Directorate of Information and Media, Department of Foreign
Affairs or application may be sent to the Indonesian Consulate
General in Chicago (for residents in Midwest
area). The Consulate will give a response of the application if
an approval has been received from the Department of Foreign
Affairs.
Foreign Media correspondent accredited to Indonesia.
A foreign media correspondent accredited to Indonesia requires a permit
from Directorate of Information and Media-Department of
Foreign Affairs, Department of Labor Affairs and Directorate
General of Immigration-Department of Justice and Human Rights.The
media representative in Indonesia has to contact the
above offices to obtain a permit for a media correspondent
assigned in Indonesia. The Indonesian Consulate General in
Chicago will issue a journalist visa after having an approval
from the Department of Foreign Affairs.
Procedural requirements to meet and cover an interview
with Government official such as president or Minister :
letter of request and description of media where he/she
works;
letter of recommendation from sponsor;
proof of financial;
completed form of list of electronic devices imported to Indonesia;
re'sume/CV;
copy of passport;
name of government official to be met
for an interviewed, topic of discussion, list of questions and
time limit.
Sign a letter of statement
in regard to the obligations to respect and to comply with
the customs, laws and regulations during stay in Indonesia;
A letter of recommendation
from the Indonesian mission abroad.
Procedural requirements to produce a film/video in Indonesia :
a
letter of request and description of media where he/she
works;
total of crews and their re'sumes/CVs;
copies of applicant and crews passports;
film synopsis;
a
letter of recommendation from a sponsor;
proof of financial;
schedules
time and location of casting;
completed list of electronic
devices to be imported to Indonesia and their values;
sign a letter of statement
in regard to the obligations to respect and comply with the
customs, laws and regulations in Indonesia;
a
letter of recommendation from the Indonesian mission abroad.
To
obtain a letter of recommendation from the Indonesian
Consulate General in
Chicago, the applicant must send the requirements as stated in
point 3 and 4.
Notifications:
a
journalist visa that has been approved may be obtained from
the Indonesian mission where the approval addressed to.
soon upon arrival, report to the Directorate of Information
and Media-Department of Foreign Affairs to obtain a pers
card or permit for film production and permit to visit other
regions and regional government institutions.
any change of crew members is considered as a new
application;
producing film in the conservatory area require a permit to
enter that area from Directorate General of Conservation,
Department of Forestry. The applicant can apply for this
permit while in Indonesia.
special permit is required to produce film in Aceh, Moluccu
and Irian Jaya;
application should be sent at least 30 days before leaving
for Indonesia.
Procedural requirements to obtain a journalist visa from the
Indonesian Consulate General in Chicago:
an
approval from the Indonesian Department of Foreign Affairs;
completed 2 visa application forms and 2 (two) pictures;
list of electronic devices to be imported and their values
(in US$ currency);
