IMPORTATION OF PETS TO
INDONESIA
Legal
Basics: Acts no. 16/1992 in regard to Export-Import Animal and
Animal Products.
Pets (cat, dog, monkey and
others) are allowed to be imported into Indonesia provided the
following regulations are followed and complied with:

Pets must be furnished with
health and free rabies certificate issued by the official
veterinarians.

Entry through the
designated disembarkation ports
-
Notify the animal
quarantine office at the disembarkation ports for quarantine
measures.
-
Pets that spread rabies are
not permitted to enter the following uncontaminated areas of
rabies in the Republic of Indonesia.
Any violation of this
regulation will be prosecuted and the animals will be seized
(State Gazette 1926 no. 452 and Ministry of Agriculture
Decree no. 982/Kpts/TN.560/1997).

Pets originate from the
following uncontaminated countries of rabies:
-
Requirements to Import Pets:
-
Rabies vaccination certificate issued by the official
vetenararian of the country of origin;
-
Health certificate issued by the Animal Quarantine office at
the port of embarkation;
-
Recommendation of import issued by the regional official
vetenararian at the country of destination;
-
Import permit issued by the Directorate of Animal Health,
Directorate General of Livestock Service;
-
Inform the Animal Quarantine official 2 (two) days before
its departure and submit all requirements for quarantine
inspection;
-
Export permit/CITES issued by CITES authority of country of
origin in regard to monkey/wildlife.
Health
and free rabies certificates have to be certified by the
nearby Indonesian Mission (Embassy or Consulate). To obtain
this certification from the Indonesian Consulate General in
Chicago, the applicant has to complete the following
requirements:

valid
health and free of rabies vaccination certificate from the
official vetenarian;

completed application form;
-
enter
through designated port of entry;
-
contact the animal quarantine office in Soekarno-Hatta on
arrival;
-
certification fee (fee vide: Consularazation and
Immigration);
-
prepaid self-addressed return envelope.

Requirements to Export Pets (dog, cat, monkey and others)

vetenararian should be issued 30 days prior to exportation

Health certificate issued by the official vetenararian of
the place of origin

Recommendatation of exportation issued by the official
regional vetenararian of the place of origin
-
Export permit issued by the Directorate of Animal Health,
Directorate General of Livestock Service (DGLS), Department
of Agriculture
-
Export permit (CITES) issued by the Directorate General of
Nature Protection and Conservation, Department of Forestry
and Plantation in regard to the monkey/wildlife
-
Inform the Animal Quarantine official 2 (two) days before
its departure and submit all requirements for inspection
measures
-
Domestic Transportation of Pets (dog, cat, monkey and others)
-
Rabies vaccination certificate issued by the official
vetenararian;
-
Health certificate issued by the official vetenararian
-
Recommendation of transportation issued by the regional
official vetenararian of the place of origin;
-
Transportation permit of wildlife issued by Natural Resource
Conservation Office of the place of origin in regard to
monkey/wildlife
-
Inform
the Animal Quarantine official 2 (two days) before its
arrival
-
Penalty Provision
-
Violation of the animal quarantine requirements provided in
the articles of 5,6,7, 21 and 25 is considered as a crime
and shall be prosecuted and punished with maximum
imprisonment of 3 (three) years and maximum penalty of Rp.
150.000.000,- (one hundred and fifty million rupiah);
-
Violation by negligence of the animal quarantine
requirements provided in the articles of 5,6,7, 21 and 25 is
considered as an offence and shall be prosecuted and
punished with maximum imprisonment of 1(one) year and
maximum penalty of Rp. 50.000.000,- (fifty million rupiah).
